Florida mental health statistics

A plain-language collection of current, citable figures about mental health, treatment, and wellbeing in Florida.

Updated October 9, 2026

A snapshot of need, care, and wellbeing.

These figures are drawn from federal and Florida public-health reporting. They are intended to make reliable statewide information easier to find, quote, and revisit.

Numbers can describe the scale of a concern, but not a person’s full experience. If something in your life feels difficult, support can still be worthwhile even when your experience does not fit neatly into a statistic.

The figures

Six statistics to know.

Reading the data with care

Useful context matters.

The federal estimates use survey responses and are reported as statewide percentages. The Florida Department of Health figures use their own reporting systems and definitions. Because the measures and years differ, they should not be added together or used to predict an individual’s needs.

The suicide figure is included because it is a significant public-health measure, not because it tells us who may need support. If you or someone you know may be in immediate danger or thinking about self-harm, call or text 988 in the United States for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 in an emergency.
